In this varied, interesting role you will be responsible for:

• Configuration of web services on LINUX servers (Red Hat)
• Management / maintenance of data centre ASP servers
• Installation / configuration of the learning management system (LMS) application software (Moodle)
• Maintenance of in-house mail and test systems
• 3rd-line technical support and resolution via e-mail and telephone

This is a senior role and as such, you will be a ‘doer’ with a proven ability to deliver in your role. You will be self-motivated and keen to learn new skills, plus will be looking for, and be able to cope well with responsibility. You will also have a track record of success at work, be self-motivated, an excellent communicator and a strong team player. A good sense of humour is optional but a definite advantage.

To be considered, you will need:

• LAMP server build and configuration to meet operational & security requirements
• Database performance tuning and optimisation (ideally MySQL)
• PHP scripting
• Knowledge of Javascript
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
• Customer-facing skills
• A methodical and practical approach, with excellent attention to detail
• Windows Server 2003 / 2008 (Network and Infrastructure knowledge)

Although not essential, possessing any or all of the following would be an advantage:

• Setting up / managing virtualised environments
• Working with formalised tech support systems
• Content management systems such as Joomla, WordPress, Drupal, etc.
• E-Learning systems and software

This role will suit an intelligent individual with a good degree of commercial experience under his/her belt. You will quickly learn the LMS software, Moodle and be able to configure it according to clients’ needs . In addition , the ideal candidate will have a passion for customer support, a natural ability to investigate and resolve technical issues on a wide variety of platforms and subjects. Additionally, the successful LAMP Administrator will have the ability to communicate at all levels, both internally and with customers.
